Direkte Vorschläge
Vorschläge verwenden oft:
- “Let’s…”
- “Why don’t we…?”
- “How about…?”
- “We should…”
- “Shall we…?”
Struktur 1: suggest + -ing
suggested + Verb-ing
Direkt: “Let’s go to the beach.” Indirekt: She suggested going to the beach.
Direkt: “Why don’t we take a break?” Indirekt: He suggested taking a break.
Direkt: “How about having lunch now?” Indirekt: She suggested having lunch.
Typischer Fehler:
- ❌ She suggested to go to the beach.
- ✓ She suggested going to the beach.
Struktur 2: suggest + that-Satz
suggested + (that) + Subjekt + Verb
Direkt: “Let’s go to the beach.” Indirekt: She suggested (that) we go to the beach.
Direkt: “Why don’t we take a taxi?” Indirekt: He suggested (that) we take a taxi.
Hinweis: Im amerikanischen Englisch wird der Subjunktiv (Grundform) verwendet. Im britischen Englisch wird oft “should” hinzugefügt.
Britisch vs. Amerikanisch
- Amerikanisch: He suggested that she go early.
- Britisch: He suggested that she should go early.
Beide Varianten sind korrekt. Der Subjunktiv ist im Amerikanischen üblicher.

Verneinte Vorschläge
Direkt: “Let’s not go there.” Indirekt: She suggested not going there.
Direkt: “Why don’t we not mention it?” Indirekt: He suggested that we not mention it. (Oder: He suggested not mentioning it.)
